Frequently Asked Questions

Below you will find the most common questions our clients ask.
1How can I arrange cover for my new horse outside of normal business hours?
Call or email us as soon as you can. We will send you an application form, to complete and sign, and return to us with the bill of sale, and a photo of the horse. Your application will then be submitted to the underwriter for assessment the next business day. Subject to successful underwriting your coverage can be back dated to the time of purchase.
2How do I make a claim?
MORTALITY

Upon the onset of illness or the injury or death of a horse, please call the Mortality Claims Team on 800 446 7925. You should provide the policy number, but in the event you cannot find it, the Claims Team will be able to locate you in the system using your personal information.

PROPERTY, EQUIPMENT, TRUCKS, TRAILERS, LIABILITY

For all other situations please contact Horse and Homes and we will advise you on the next steps.

In all cases your claim may be compromised if you fail to notify us or the insurer within 48 hours of any event giving rise to a claim.

3Can I transfer my existing equine full mortality insurance to the new owner when I sell my horse?
No. The new owner must obtain their own insurance cover, as policies are not transferable between parties.
